Program: Real Estate Cycles and Their Contribution to Diversification

Low interest rate environments create challenges for when allocating to traditional fixed income. Christopher De Mario will discuss commercial real estate cycles and market dynamics with consideration for real estate as a fixed income diversifier. Chris will identify previous commercial real estate cycles and detail the different demand drivers for public and private commercial real estate. Current supply and demand forecasts remain positive for commercial real estate investors. Where are we in the the current cycle and what opportunities exist? What are the methods of allocating to commercial real estate? Chris will discuss these issues during his presentation at the morning education meeting.


Speaker: Christopher DeMario, Vice President RIA Development, LaSalle Investment Management

Christopher DeMario is Vice President of RIA Development at LaSalle Investment Management. Prior to joining LaSalle, he worked as Vice President of Private Equity Sales for a venture capital investment bank; raising capital through a network of financial advisors for technology and alternative energy companies, and also private real estate investments. Most recently, he worked for Ascendant Capital as Vice President of Sales, raising capital for several alternative investment strategies.

 

Learning Objective: 

Evaluate future economic conditions including assumed rates of inflation, levels of interest rates, market returns to portfolios of various risks and economic growth personal property. Describe characteristics ant tax consequences of real estate as an asset class vs. traditional fixed income vehicles.
